Events

Visit us for immersive museum-based events in which you'll meet different characters and take part in a range of activities.

10am - 2pm and £5 per pupil (unless otherwise stated). Minimum fees apply. Due to the Castle Keep redevelopment project, we currently have a maximum of 60 students per day.

Please see the current schools programme for up-to-date information on individual events.

Medicine

Suitable for all exam boards except OCR B SHP.

Discover how medicine has changed from Medieval times to the present day by meeting costumed characters, handling objects, and analysing sources from Medieval, Renaissance, Industrial, and Modern periods.

Resources

Crime and Punishment

10am to 12 noon, £3.50 per pupil. Suitable for all GCSE exam boards.

Take a tour of the museum's Georgian former prison buildings and find out about punishment objects.

Please note: this is an adapted version of the event while the dungeons, Shirehall courtroom and prisoners' tunnel are closed to visitors.

Resources

Anglo-Saxon and Norman England

Meet Saxon and Norman characters and compare and contrast their cultures. Re-enact the Battle of Hastings and the Saxon rebellions, and take a virtual tour of the Castle to discover why it was built, how it functioned and how important it was to the Normans. Also available for KS5.

Please note: During the Castle Keep redevelopment project, this event will still run but won't visit the Castle Keep or the Anglo-Saxon and Viking gallery.

Historic Environment - suitable for OCR B (SHP)

Choose Norwich Castle as an historical site. Download the guidance below to see how all criteria points can be fulfilled, along with links to over 60 additional historical sources, to assist in studying the site. Please note: During the Castle Keep redevelopment project, the Keep tour will be replaced with a video tour of the Keep.
