A-level Art Masterclass
Tuesday 7 July 2026, 10am-2.15pm, maximum 15 students
Join artist-educator Marnie Hardy in response to Norwich Castle's collections and current exhibition Seven Decades of Contemporary Art.
Seven Decades of Contemporary Art celebrates the 70th anniversary of Norfolk Contemporary Art Society, which has supported the Castle since 1956 to present work by innovative artists, including Eduardo Paolozzi, Colin Self, Bridget Riley and Roger Ackling.
Marnie Hardy is an artist-educator based in Norfolk. She makes work in response to people, plants and places, predominantly working with paint and cut paper. She is interested in the gaps that myth, mystery and magical realism might offer for envisioning positive futures.
In this masterclass Marnie will ask participants: 'How might we use historical collections to engage with the questions important to us today?' Students will journey between the Castle's Medieval and contemporary art collections, capturing their responses to secular, sacred and symbolic imagery that offers space for protection, inner reflection and outer protest.
