The British Museum's live schools' broadcast: The Bayeux Tapestry

Delivered in partnership with the British Library, English Heritage and Norfolk Museums Service

Tapestry showing William and Harold

For the first time since it was made almost 1,000 years ago the Bayeux Tapestry is returning to England, bringing with it the story that changed the country forever: the Norman invasion of 1066.

The British Museum is inviting all schools to get involved and sign up to experience the most dramatic story ever stitched, all from your own classroom! Give your students a front-row seat to one of Europe's most incredible stories with the British Museum's 60-minute live broadcast on 14 October 2026.

Exploring the Bayeux Tapestry and created especially for learners aged 7-14, the broadcast will be a fantastic introduction to this object and its story. Hosted by Emma-Louise Amanshia, a familiar face from children's TV, this broadcast is perfect for learners who can't visit the tapestry in person, or an excellent companion for those going to see it.
